It’s the end of an era for casual gamers with a soft spot for Kim Kardashian. The reality star this week confirmed that her Kim Kardashian: Hollywood mobile game will shut down after 10 years.”I’m so grateful from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has loved and played Kim Kardashian: Hollywood in the past 10 years,” Kardashian tells TMZ. “This journey has meant so much to me but I’ve realized that it’s time to focus that energy into other passions.”

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood launched in 2014 as a free-to-play mobile game that allowed players to create their characters and navigate the glamorous world of Hollywood with Kim’s help. Though it inspired eye-rolls from the gaming community at launch, we found it to be “shallow, addictive fun, just like everything about actual Hollywood.” Kardashian herself was reportedly involved in approving clothing items and providing feedback.It was also a cash cow. In-app purchases helped it bring in $1.6 million in the first five days and tens of millions in the following years. Though she joked in 2016 about “cashing my 80 million video game check,” Kardashian probably didn’t rake in that much, but it was still an extremely lucrative project for her and game maker Glu Mobile.”I want to thank the Glu team and the many people behind the scenes who have worked diligently on making it a success. I will be forever inspired by this community that we built together,” Kardashian added in her statement.
