One bit of CES news that you might not have picked up however is that, according to FlatpanelsHD, the display bods at LG gave a demonstration of their work-in-progress 2025 OLED panel to a group of ‘industry insiders’ with some exciting tech implications! Market leaders like the LG C2 and the recently announced LG C4 are a testament to LG’s ability to consistently produce cutting-edge displays and it looks like that streak is set to continue into 2025. The prototype 2025 OLED panel that they reportedly showed off at CES is estimated to reach around 3700 nits peak brightness. This means that by the time it finds its way into consumer TVs, it’s plausible that we could be watching 4000 nit OLED screens at home! Do we need 4000 nits TVs? Well, this is a point that’s up for debate but with many films being mastered at 4000 nits and even above it’s easy to see why companies like LG are pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
