1. Oppenheimer (Peacock)If you missed out on the in-theater Barbenheimer madness, you can now enjoy both movies from the comfort of your home (Barbie is on Max). “Enjoy” may be the wrong word for Oppenheimer, given it’s about the development of the atomic bomb, but it’s cleaning up this awards season, so it’s probably worth a watch if you have Peacock. (If you have Netflix and want to continue the nuke theme, Einstein and the Bomb is a docudrama movie that combines scripted elements and interviews to look back on the life of Albert Einstein.)
2. True Detective (Max)Once considered a gem in the HBO firmament (thanks mostly to Matthew McConaughey in the first season), this anthology show went down the tubes. Now the fourth season is the most popular yet, thanks in part to its new star, Jodie Foster (despite what original creator Nic Pizzolatto says). The show just got a renewal with the season four showrunner set to return.
3. Resident Alien (Netflix, Peacock, Fubo, DirecTV Stream)Alan Tudyk is one of the great working actors of today. He proves it with a steady string of Disney voiceover work, movie appearances, and especially with his latest show, where he portrays an alien who takes over the identity of a human, then struggles with his mission on earth (to kill everyone) to hilarious effect. The third season just started on Syfy; You can only stream that one on Peacock.
4. Tracker (Paramount+/CBS)This new CBS show got its debut after the big game and it might be a streaming hit, if only because it’s essentially Reacher-lite with less blood and violence, a little more money-grubbing over rewards, and a smidgen more friendship for the protagonist “loner” (Justin Hartley) who helps people in need.
5. The Tourist (Netflix)Ah, the classic amnesia story, as a man (Jamie Dornan) wakes up with no idea who he is and must piece it together before he gets in even more trouble. This one is different because he wakes up in the Australian outback. (It’s also Max’s loss—the streamer that loves to dump content had this BBC-produced show when it premiered in 2022, but Netflix snapped it up and will have the second season as well starting Feb. 29.)
6. The Holdovers (Peacock)When director Alexander Payne teams up with actor Paul Giamatti, it’s always worth paying attention. After all, they made Sideways. This time, ol’ Pig Vomit plays a 1970s prep school teacher stuck on campus over the winter holidays with his least favorite student and the head cook.
7. Past Lives (Paramount+ with Showtime)Two childhood friends lose touch, connect, lose touch again, and reconnect in this beautiful, Oscar-nominated film directed by Celine Strong and starring Greta Lee. It’s melancholy and hopeful and will have you pondering the concept of in-yun (the idea that your present-day interactions are influenced by those in the lives you’ve lived before) in your own life.
8. One Day (Netflix)Are we entering a new renaissance of rom-coms? This series is more rom than com but comes with some funny bits, as two graduates come together every year on the same day to reconnect. It’s a big upgrade from the movie version from a decade ago.

9. Masters of the Air (Apple TV+)Get ready, history buffs. Masters of the Air basically rounds out a dramatic trilogy from Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman after Band of Brothers and The Pacific. This nine-episode series follows the 100th Bomb Group of the pre-Air Force Army Air Corps. (As The Wrap notes, Spielberg’s father served in the Army Air Corps.) It stars Austin Butler, who dropped the Elvis accent.
10. Killers of the Flower Moon (Apple TV+) Killers of the Flower Moon has racked up several Oscar nominations. If you haven’t seen it in theaters or paid to watch it stream, now’s your chance to catch it “free” (if you pay for Apple TV+), which is probably the best place to do it since the film is just under three hours.
