Who loves a good shiny lipstick? I know I do! I’ve been applying lipgloss on top of my lipsticks for years now to get that gorgeous shine and glossy look! Sephora went and dropped two new shiny lipsticks this week which I’m totally going to snag shortly. Sephora Collection About That Shine Sheer Shine Lipstick and and Sephora Collection About That Shine Lacquer Shine Lipstick are the two new lippies I’m talking about and what a great time to drop these as during the Spring Savings Event later this week you can use code YAYSAVE for 30% off. I already loaded up my cart with a few shades because I’m a sucker for a good glossy lipstick. My first introduction to moisturizing, shiny lipsticks was when I started getting into Japanese cosmetics. I remember how gorgeous T’estimo lipsticks were and many others from Japan. And at the time, the US market was flooded with liquid matte lipsticks that I always find cloying to wear. I admire anyone that can sit around with matte long-wearing liquid lipstick for five to six hours or more. I just can’t! My lips start looking like sandpaper by hour three. I remember how much more I appreciated the light, glossy and moisturizing feel of Japanese lipsticks back then when everyone in the Western market was obsessed with matte everything.
Lately, I do notice more and more brands are favoring lip oils and more moisturizing lipstick formulas and I’m so happy about that (and so are my dry lips). Sephora didn’t take the “stick” formula everyone is trying to make go viral at the moment. Everyone I looked there’s a new dupe for Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lips. We got E.L.F. Pout Clout, NYX Fat Oil Slick Click Lip Balm, and now ColourPop So Juicy Plumping Gloss Balm. I’m actually surprised Sephora didn’t also, try and cash in on Tarte’s popularity but they ended up going with a more traditional lipstick with these new About That Shine Sheer Shine Lipstick and and About That Shine Lacquer Shine Lipstick. I’m not sure if either of these formulas are like the old Rouge Lacquer Long-Lasting Lipstick but I do want to say that formula is on sale for $5 bucks which is a steal plus you can stack the YAYSALE coupon on those to get an even bigger deal when the sale starts as the whole Sephora Collection will be 30% off!
We got two finishes here as you can tell from the names. A sheer, glossy formula and a more pigmented glossy formula. It looks like the Sephora About That Shine Sheer Shine Lipstick does have some sheering as they call it “an catching prismatic shine” and the formula is more of a balm. I’m not sure about this formula but I am liking the sound of the About That Shine Lacquer Shine Lipstick which is descried as a lacquer formula however, this too says “prismatic shine”. That being said you can see a little hint of shimmer in the About That Shine promo images where as the About That Shine Lacquer images don’t appear to have shine. Both formulas are available in 16 shade selections for $16 each. A touch high considering Sephora has been releasing a lot of items lately that are in the $12-$14 range. But if the formula is amazing we likely won’t mind paying that much for him because let’s be honest sometimes the Sephora Collection does have a hidden gem or two in the mix and these could be one. And hey, we also know that Sephora can do good lipsticks as their #LIPSTORIES Lipstick is actually a really great, affordable formula!
