Samsung blames Google for touch issue with One UI 6.1 on Galaxy S23

[ad_1]

Late last month, Samsung started to roll out One UI 6.1 with Galaxy for the last-gen devices. That includes the entire Galaxy S23 lineup. But the rollout didn’t go as smoothly as expected. Soon after the phones started to receive the update, reports about various issues started to pop up. Among them is the touchscreen issue.

As reported by the users, the Samsung Galaxy S23 with One UI 6.1 doesn’t register the touch input correctly, and you would need to tap multiple times. It goes without saying that this issue is quite frustrating. And given that the S23 is a last-gen flagship, it made many users angry.
Samsung has responded to the issue and says that it’s Google’s fault. The South Korean phone maker says that the touch issues on Galaxy S23 with One UI 6.1 are due to the Google app’s Discover feed. This feed appears on the left of the home screen, and it’s making the phone not register touches correctly.

Samsung Assured That Fix for This One UI 6.1 Issue Is On the Way
Besides addressing the issue, Samsung has confirmed that Google is aware of the problem and is looking to get it fixed. Before you get the fix, Samsung recommends the affected users opt for a temporary solution: clear the Google app’s data and restart the phone. This should make the phone register touch correctly on the home screen.

For those wondering, you can clear the Google app’s data from Settings. Head over to Apps and locate Google. Tap on Storage and select Clear Data. Doing this may require you to sign into your Google account again, but it will fix the One UI 6.1 touch issue on your Galaxy S23.

It’s also worth noting that Google will likely offer the fix through an app update. So, if you’re facing the issue on your One UI 6.1 device, make sure to have automatic updates enabled on the Play Store.
