The Samsung Galaxy M55 launched in India last month and we wondered whether it will be available to a wider audience – the M54, for example, never came to Europe. Well, wonder no more, the M55 is getting a global release. In fact, it’s already available in Europe and South America.
Here it is on Samsung Portugal, in an 8/128GB configuration for €500 and 8/256GB for €550. For comparison, the Galaxy A55 is €500 (down to €480 at the moment) for the 8/128GB phone. Of course, the M55 and A55 have some marked differences. Anyway, the M55 is also available in Switzerland through a third-party retailer – Mobile Device for CHF 392 (128GB version).
Galaxy M55 in Dark Blue and Light Green
Moving on, the 256GB version is available on Samsung Brazil for BRL 2,700, Samsung Peru has it at PEN 1,700. Samsung Chile sells the 8/128GB model for CLP 450,000.
For comparison, the 256GB Galaxy A55 is BRL 2,970 or PEN 1,900, the 128GB model is CPL 450,000. So, depending on where you are in the world, the M55 might or might not be a better deal than the A55. The A-series model has a more premium build and the better chipset, but the M55 has a few aces up its sleeve.
Galaxy M55 highlights: Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 • 45W charging • 50MP selfie camera
The Galaxy M55 is the only non-flagship Samsung to have 45W charging (wired only, 5,000mAh battery). It also stands out with its 50MP selfie camera (there’s a 50MP 1/1.56” main and 8MP 123° ultra wide on the back). It as a 6.7” FHD+ 120Hz display on the front and is powered by the relatively old Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. Unlike the A55, it doesn’t have an IP dust and water resistance rating, no word on the screen glass either.
