Skylum announces Project Barcelona, a new app for portrait retouching

[ad_1]

Skylum has announced the release date for a brand-new photo-processing application aimed specifically at professional portrait retouching. The app will be released in September 2024, and the company is working closely with portrait photographer Julia Trotti on its development.

Project “Barcelona” will let photographers automate routine face retouching processes through an AI-optimized workflow that runs locally on the user’s device. Skylum says it will make portrait retouching as easy as applying presets.

This app is aimed at saving busy photographers time on the back-end and post-processing parts of the job. I would certainly welcome that! According to the press release, this will allow photographers “to balance the time-intensive task of photo retouching with shooting and growing their photography business.”

Key features

Skin Toning: Accurate facial skin segmentation for skin tone adjustments, makeup corrections, and application of textures like blush and highlight.

Eye Enhancement: Tools for iris flare, redness removal, and eye shape adjustments.

Teeth Whitening: Advanced whitening and brightening capabilities.

Makeup Application: Customizable makeup styles and colors.

Bokeh Effects: Depth-of-field effects to add dimension to portraits.

Body Enhancement: Adjustments for bodily proportions and posture corrections.

This is a separate product from Skylum’s popular Luminar Neo application, which the company will continue to develop and invest in.

There’s no word on the price as yet. However, you can sign up on the website for an “Early Bird” offer, which will be available from June 2024.
