You don’t need to travel to a summer gaming showcase to sample upcoming titles. At Steam Next Fest, Valve highlights hundreds of cool games coming soon to its huge PC gaming marketplace by offering playable demos. You can browse by genre and features, as well as put games on your wishlist for when they eventually debut on Steam. The festival even broadcasts developers sharing details about their work.Steam Next Fest 2024 runs from June 10 through June 17. Playing all the demos during that week is impossible. However, here are 11 featured future games that caught our attention. As unfinished titles, they may or may not currently work on Valve’s Steam Deck handheld, but that functionality could arrive at launch. Besides, they’re all free, so there’s no harm in downloading them.
Aerial_Knight’s We Never YieldAerial_Knight’s universe expands with We Never Yield. This game (from a Black developer) combines stylish visuals with endless runner concepts to deliver an action-packed platformer with tons of momentum. Free your people!
ArrangerTypically, moving boxes isn’t the best part of a video game. However, Arranger triples down on the idea in an RPG where you manipulate the world by rearranging its grid. It’s so mind-bending, it just might be genius.
Big Boy BoxingIf Nintendo won’t make a new Punch-Out!!, indie developers will happily step in to pick up the slack. Big Boy Boxing gives you a boxer gauntlet to blast through by studying their patterns and striking back at the right time.
Cat Quest IIIThe internet loves cats, so Cat Quest returns for another feline fantasy adventure. Fortunately, these games back up their cute premise with accessible, open-world, action-RPG gameplay. Cat Quest III makes everything even more adorable with cat pirates who explore the Purribean, an archipelago packed with Pi-rats.
Enotria: The Last SongWhat separates Enotria: The Last Song from other Soulslike titles? How about a world inspired by Italy’s beautiful past? Master the mask-based gameplay and stay alive long enough to catch another glimpse of the sun.
Kitsune TailsThrowback platformer Kitsune Tails has been on our radar for a while, but the game is just a few weeks away from launch. Enjoy this foxy adventure full of sweet characters and cozy romance.
Metal Slug Tactics is shaping up to be a beautiful blend of classic arcade style and modern, tactical gameplay with roguelike elements. We have a detailed preview of the game’s first area, but you can now download the PC demo and fight the good fight.
