Former President Donald Trump revealed this week that his team used artificial intelligence to help rewrite at least one of his speeches.Trump mentioned the edits during an appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast Impaulsive.“What it does is so crazy. Now, it can also be really used for good,” Trump told Paul. “I mean, things can happen. I had a speech rewritten by AI out there.”
Trump said his speechwriter Vince Haley “goes click click click, and like 15 seconds later he shows me my speech, written so beautifully, I said, ‘I’m gonna use this.’ I’ve never seen anything like it.” He didn’t reveal which speech got the AI treatment.When asked what he said to his speechwriter, Trump joked that he said: “You’re fired, Vince!”Trump went on to talk about how impressed he is with the speed of AI, as well as the quality of what it was able to produce. “It comes out with the most beautiful writing, so one industry I think that will be gone are these wonderful speechwriters,” Trump said. “I’ve never seen anything like it, and so quickly. A manner of literally minutes, it’s done. It’s a little bit scary.”

Earlier, Trump acknowledged that deepfake technology is “very disconcerting,” especially if it’s used to create a fake version of a US president talking about taking action like a missile strike. But “in another way, “it’s so incredible,” he said. During his presidency, Trump signed the “American AI Initiative,” which funded artificial intelligence R&D in the United States.
