Lexar has announced three new product lines in its UHS-I SD and microSD card range. We have new Silver UHS-I SD cards and Silver Plus UHS-I SD & microSD cards. The cards meet the V30 specification with read speeds of up to 205MB/sec.
The new cards, Lexar says, are built for durability. They’re drop-proof, temperature-proof, x-ray-proof, magnet-proof, shockproof and vibration-resistant. But they’re also built for speed, with max read and write speeds beyond the UHS-I spec.
Lexar Silver Plus UHS-I SD & microSD Cards
The new Lexar Silver Plus SD and microSD cards offer read speeds of up to 205MB/sec and write speeds of up to 150MB/sec. Of course, these are burst speeds and won’t be available in all memory card readers. For UHS-I cards, anything beyond 104MB/sec is outside of spec, so you’ll likely need the Lexar reader to utilise those speeds.
That only matters when you’re using them inside a computer, though. So, basically just when you’re unloading the files from the cards. They all meet the V30 specification, which is the fastest guaranteed minimum write speed certification available for UHS-I. So, it meets the needs of any camera with a UHS-I card slot.
Despite the thumbnails on the Lexar marketing videos, the cards don’t currently seem to be available in 512GB or 1TB capacities. At the moment, there only appear to be 64GB, 128GB and 256GB cards for sale. I expect the 512GB and 1TB capacities will come eventually, although no prices for the higher capacities has yet been released.
Lexar Silver UHS-I SD Cards
The Lexar Silver UHS-I SD cards offer slightly slower speeds than the Silver Plus, although not by much. They also meet the V30 specification and have maximum read speeds of 205MB/sec. Their maximum write speed, however, is 140MB/sec.
This is still faster than any camera can write to a UHS-I SD card, though. So, for many use cases, there will be virtually no difference between the two. Again, the capacities aren’t quite those shown in the YouTube thumb. The Lexar Silver cards are currently only available in 128GB and 256GB capacities.

The Lexar Silver Plus UHS-I SD cards are available to buy now in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities for $14.99, $29.99 and $59.99, respectively. The Lexar Silver Plus UHS-I microSD cards are available to buy now in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities for $12.99, $24.99 and $44.99, respectively.
The Lexar Silver UHS-I SD cards are available to buy now in 128GB and 256GB capacities for $22.99 and $39.99, respectively.
