Apple Is Ditching the Second-Generation Vision Pro to Focus on a Cheaper Version

[ad_1]

Apple has reportedly stopped development on a second generation of the Vision Pro in favor of working on a slimmed-down more affordable version of the headset.According to The Information, Apple hopes to release the less expensive version of the headset by the end of next year.According to the site, Apple is aiming to make the new headset come in at a price point of around $1500, which should help Apple compete with other products such as the Meta Quest. The Vision Pro currently retails for $3500, which puts it out of reach for many would-be buyers.According to The Information Apple is currently struggling with creating the stripped-down model in part because it’s struggling to find ways to cut down on the cost of the device without taking significantly away from the experience of using it.

Apple is also reportedly working on finding ways to make the headset lighter. One common complaint about the Vision Pro has been its weight. All that said, it might not be the end of the road for a new version of the higher-end model. While Apple has stopped development for now, could eventually start work again on the device and offer it alongside the less expensive version.
