OnePlus unveiled today the new OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite. It adopts some neat features from the OnePlus Nord CE4 but has some cuts to justify the lower price. Interestingly, it arrives as a good upgrade over the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite. The phone has some drawbacks, but it’s a great device for the proposed price. Let’s dive into its specifications.
OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite Specs and Features
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite is a big step forward for this lineup. After all, it ditches the usual LCD screen for a better OLED panel. It’s a good panel, with the same materials used in the OnePlus 11. It has a 6.67-inch diagonal with 2,400 x 1,080 pixels of resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The panel offers 1,200 brightness for the whole display, while local brightness can hit 2,100 nits. That’s a huge upgrade over the 680 units offered by the CE 3 Lite. The fingerprint reader sits under the display, another upgrade that puts the phone near the premium range.
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite features a 5,000 mAh battery which means a 10% increase over the 5,000mAh cell in the Nord CE 3 Lite. Unfortunately, this is the capacity for the Indian variant only. The global version has a smaller 5,110mAh battery. Both variants charge at an 80W charging rate, and a full 100% charge takes 52 minutes for the 5,500 mAh battery. Anyway, the phone will last long with about 20 hours of uninterrupted YouTube, according to OnePlus.
Gizchina News of the week
The phone features a USB Type-C 2.0 port and the charging brick is available in the Indian variant. European customers will need to buy a charger separately, otherwise, they can use a USB-PD charger, but will be limited to the 55W charging speed. The phone is thinner and lighter than its predecessor. The phone’s thickness is 8.1mm and it weighs 195 grams. The phone also features an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance. It’s a first for the CE Lite series. The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite comes with a micro SD card Slot for storage expansion, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and stereo speakers with 300% Ultra Volume mode. The phone also features 5W fast charging.
Snapdragon 695 and 50 MP Sony LYT 600 Camera
Most of the upgrades shine, but there is a disappointing part in the new OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite: The Chipset. The phone brings the old Snapdragon 695, which powers the Nord CE 3 Lite and the Nord CE 2 Lite. It’s not a bad chipset, but we would appreciate a newer CPU with more horsepower. OnePlus sacrificed a performance upgrade to improve in other areas like the OLED display. Moving on, the phone is paired with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of Internal Storage.
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite also comes with a Sony LYT 600 camera with 50MP resolution. Another upgrade for the series is that the phone includes an Optical Image Stabilization. Some will miss the 108 MP 1/1.67″camera on the phone’s predecessor. There is a secondary 2 MP camera for depth sensing. The front-facing camera is a 16 MP shooter, like other Nord devices.
Pricing and Availability
The phone sells in Super Silver and Mega Blue color options. There is an exclusive color for India dubbed Ultra Orange. The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite sells starting today in Europe in just one configuration – 8GB/256GB. Early birds will get the €280 price with a free pair of OnePlus Nord Buds 2 (valued at €70). The open sales will begin on July 1.
The situation in India is different, with the base 8 GB/128GB variant on sale for INR 21,000 and the 8GB/256GB variant at INR 24,000. For a limited time, these models will sell at INR 20,000 and INR 23,000 respectively with instant discounts from ICICI Bank and OneCard Credit Cards. The Ultra Orange version, which is exclusive to India, will be available at a later date.
