Wild rumor claiming there won’t be a Samsung Galaxy S25+ gets instantly refuted

How many members will the Galaxy S25 family have when it launches in January? Believe it or not, this question has become quite prescient over the past 24 hours. Yesterday a wild rumor claimed Samsung would give up on the S25+ and only launch the S25 and S25 Ultra.

Mere hours later, however, this was refuted by another source which claims the company is in fact still developing three S25 models as we all expected it to all along. So RIP S25+, long live the S25+! It’s been a rollercoaster ride for sure.

Let’s go into these claims now, shall we? The rumor claiming the death of the plus model was based on the fact that an IMEI database doesn’t yet contain the S25+’s model number, even though in July last year all three S24s were seen in there.

That’s a pretty weak argument to make six months before the phone’s theoretical launch – there’s still plenty of time for it to be added to IMEI databases left and right. While this isn’t the greatest ‘proof’ of something like this happening, not by a long shot, Samsung giving up on the plus model would actually make sense, since it’s the least sold of its flagship trio.

Anyway, another source claims the development is going along as usual with three models, codenamed F1, F2, and F3, aka the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, which have the model numbers SM-S931, SM-S936, and SM-S938, respectively.

Who to believe? No one at this point. If Samsung has given up on the plus model, we’ll hear much more about that in the coming weeks and months. If it hasn’t, then we will never hear about any of this ever again.
