Apple users facing issues updating to iOS 17.3; Here’s the possible workarounds

[ad_1]

iOS 17.3 is here and brings one of the most-awaited features – the Stolen Device Protection. Apple has already asked users to get their iOS 17.3 update done as it also carries a fix for a zero-day vulnerability. However, it seems like some users are facing difficulty in getting their share of the iOS 17.3 update. But luckily, there’s a workaround that could help.

People have been taking it to the Apple Community and Reddit posting about how they are running into problems when trying to update to iOS 17.3. Some users reported getting a prompt that says “Unable to Verify Update” as in the pic below. Turns out hitting the “Retry” button doesn’t fix the issue as well as per Redditors. The question is, what’s next? What can you do to fix the problem on your iPhone? Here are some workarounds that have helped users although their effectiveness is subjective.

Fixing the darn iOS 17.3 Update Not Working Issue

According to one of the users, restarting the iPhone can help fix the problem. Another Redditor said clearing the iOS 17.3 update from the storage can help since it requires downloading the file again before installing. You can do so by going to Settings >> General >> iPhone Storage >> Clear iOS 17.3 Update. Additionally, you need to force restart your iPhone, and here’s how.

First up, press the volume up button and release it quickly.

Next, do the same with the volume down button.

Next, press and hold the side button on your iPhone and release it once you see the Apple logo.

Once restarted, go to General >> Software Update and download iOS 17.3.

Install and you should be good to go.

One of the Redditors mentioned that you need to have a good internet connection when downloading and installing the iOS 17.3 update to prevent any issues in between. Most cases of iOS updates not working are because of a lost or interrupted internet connection when the patch is being downloaded or installed.

Another user on Apple Community hints at using a VPN to check, download, and install the iOS 17.3 update that you might try as a workaround. If not, use the iTunes on your computer to patch the latest iOS 17.3 update on your iPhone that should work. The last resort is to call Apple Support if you run aground with no possible or available resolutions.
