Apple held their “Let Loose” event this morning, revealing new models of the iPad Air and iPad Pro that boast a new M4 processor, AI-oriented hardware, compatibility with a squeezable Apple Pencil and more. You can bet that we’re going to put this new hardware through its paces in extensive reviews, but one of the lesser-known benefits of Apple announcements is price drops on older models. Multiple iPads are on sale for surprisingly low prices right now, and these are powerful and well-built tablets that can handle a lot of use. Here’s our guide to the best iPad deals right now.
The biggest price drop we’re seeing on older iPads comes from the excellent 10th generation tablet, which we gave an Editors’ Choice award to in our review. This 2022 model radically redesigned the exterior, removing the circular Touch ID button as well as the top and bottom bezels. Under the hood it’s equally potent, with the A14 Bionic processor featuring 16 Neural Engine cores. In our review, we said “the revised design is attractive, the screen is very good, the upgraded processor is faster, and the new camera configuration means better photos and more natural video calls.” Taking almost $100 off is a massive deal, so snag one fast.
Going back another generation, the 2021 base model iPad is still a reliable pick that works for everyday tablet usage. In our review, we called it “the best tablet for most people,” noting its solid balance between price and performance. Built around the A13 Bionic chip, this model has a crisp, clear 10.2″ Retina display that uses TrueTone color and brightness adjustment to deliver the optimal picture no matter the surroundings. This configuration comes with 64GB of internal storage. It’s important to note that the 9th generation iPad does still charge with a Lightning cable.
The 2022 iPad Air release is one of our favorite tablets of all time, garnering an Editors’ Choice award in our review. We lauded its light weight, zippy performance and compatibility with the second-generation Apple Pencil. The Air is typically where Apple pushes the envelope for creative types, and this model, which runs off of the M1 processor, is “the best choice in Apple’s tablet lineup” and better than any Android tablet for the price. This isn’t the most massive discount, but it’s still better than we normally see. This model comes with 256GB of internal storage and Wi-Fi 6 support.

Let’s close with a killer piece of kit for $100 off. Apple’s 2021 iPad Pro marked a significant upgrade in the tablet’s hardware, and in our review we said it could compete with a Mac desktop in terms of processing power, with a potent M1 CPU. The mini LED screen is one of the best the company has ever produced, with stellar resolution and color accuracy. The camera and audio quality are as good as you’d expect from the Pro, and even though it’s a few years old the Wi-Fi connectivity is fast and stable.
