ASUS sure want to keep people guessing

ASUS is taking their PSU range one step further and releasing what they call the ROG Mjolnir – a power station which is going to ‘complete your gaming experience’. Inspiration for the design is obvious, but we still have much to learn about this new piece of hardware. It looks to be an external power bank, or a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
Last year they announced the ASUS ROG Ally on April Fools’ Day itself, but that was a lot more believable, so the Mjolnir has understandably been revealed just the day after. Even so, they’ve explicitly disclosed that it’s not a joke, just to make sure.
ASUS announces ROG Mjolnir power station
The ASUS ROG Mjolnir is a particularly striking piece of hardware, something which could certainly pass as an April Fools’ joke if it were to be announced just a day earlier. They announced it on their X (formerly Twitter) page, as you can see right here, on April 2nd.
Not many details have been discussed, but it looks to a battery-powered power station, perhaps even for outdoor use. The design obviously takes direct inspiration from Norse mythology, replicating Thor’s hammer to accompany the existing ROG Thor (and Loki) power supply series. It definitely feels gimmicky, with the large handle and all, but it could still prove to be a useful piece of kit for external power.
What we can gather from the reveal is that there are four power outlets, two USB Type-A, and two USB Type-C ports on board. No information has been discussed regarding wattage, efficiency, or other specifics.

When will it come out?
Currently, there are no details on when the ASUS ROG Mjolnir will be available to buy. However, ASUS have given us something to look forward to – they’ll be showing it off at Computex 2024, which takes place between June 4th and June 7th this year in Taipei.
Looking back to the ASUS ROG Ally which was also revealed around the same time last year, it too was shown off during Computex. The Ally finally met its release date on June 13th, 2023 – so perhaps the ROG Mjolnir is aimed at a similar release window.
