Best PlayStation Deals for June 2024: Mortal Kombat 1, Prince of Persia, More

[ad_1]

2024 is absolutely stacked with video game releases. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth came out at the end of February; Shadow of the Erdtree will add even more content to critically acclaimed Elden Ring come June; gorgeous strategy RPG Unicorn Overlord is one I’ll definitely be spending more time with; excellent action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available now, wherever you play your games, a little over a decade after the first game; console-exclusive Stellar Blade has earned high marks across the board from fans and critics alike for its fast and fluid gameplay and fantastic graphics; Ubisoft’s next open world blockbuster, Star Wars Outlaws, finally has a release date set in August and is available for preorder now. Plus, many many more. I’ve only named a few of several, so check out PCMag’s list of The Best Video Games Coming Out in 2024 for a more comprehensive list and read on for some on-sale recommendations for you to check out—some of which were released just this year. For those who haven’t taken the plunge and upgraded to the PlayStation 5, the console offers unparalleled graphical fidelity, much faster loading times over the PS4, and a huge library of next-gen games that are as fun to look at as they are to play.

“The Best Fighting System in the History of the Franchise”

Mortal Kombat 1 was released in September of 2023 and developer NetherRealm Studios is still churning out content with the recent reveal of an upcoming DLC character, Homelander, from the Prime Video series The Boys. It secured the PCMag Editors’ Choice award for fighting games thanks to its superb fighting mechanics and fantastic visuals and this recent price drop is a great reason to check out the hype for yourself.

The Latest Fantasy RPG Masterpiece From Atlus x Vanillaware

I’ve played all of the Atlus x Vanillaware games (Odin’s Sphere remake when?), so I may be a little biased when I say: Unicorn Overlord is gorgeous, fun, strategically crunchy—awesome. Managing your troops, cooking up dishes, and shoring up your base of operations while you play your way through the story is an immensely rewarding experience and one that I highly recommend. Others who have played seem to agree, so see what all the hype is about with this deep discount on the standard edition of the game.

Remakes are all the rage nowadays and the latest oldie-but-goody to receive that overhaul treatment is Persona 3. Establish Social Links, battle your way through the shadowy labyrinth, Tartarus, and engage in the typical Persona balancing act of social and RPG elements. Those who didn’t play this iconic early entry in the Persona series likely won’t enjoy it as much as those with nostalgia because, as our reviewer points out, it “doesn’t hit the narrative or presentation heights of Persona 4 or 5” despite improvements made to graphics and sound. Like Infinite Wealth, this recently-released title has seen a steep price drop.

FAQ
What’s the Best Gaming Console?Every console has its pros and cons. The Nintendo Switch is very portable, but not as powerful as, say, the Xbox One X. Each console also has its own library of exclusives, so basing your decision on what games you want to be able to play is a solid strategy. Should I get the PlayStation 5 Slim?If you already own a PS5 console, switching to the Slim doesn’t make much sense as the differences are negligible. We suggest holding off until the Pro model is released. Do I Need a PlayStation Plus Subscription to Play My Games?Yes and no. Much like with an Xbox or Switch console, playing online requires a subscription. If you play only single player games, you won’t need PlayStation Plus, though it helps to have cloud saving and you’re granted access to a selection of new games every month, which are yours to keep so long as your subscription is active.
