A couple in India who were taking part in a photo shoot on a railway bridge have reportedly suffered severe injuries after a train approached and they were forced to jump into a 90-foot deep gorge. The shocking incident happened around midday today (July 15) local time on Goram Ghat Bridge in Pali, Rajasthan, northwest India. According to the Daily Mail, the couple were creating content for social media when the train arrived on the bridge. Engrossed in their photo shoot, the pair fail to notice the train until it is right next to them. Reports have named the couple as husband and wife Rahul, 22, and Jhanvi, 20. They survived the fall but are said to have sustained serious injuries with the husband’s condition critical. Emergency services arrived at Goram Ghat Bridge and the pair were taken to a hospital. The Goram Ghat Bridge is a popular spot for photographers and tourists who flock there for its picturesque nature. However, a live train track is never a wise place to be as the couple found out to their detriment. The incident has prompted local authorities to enforce stricter safety measures at the bridge to prevent similar accidents in the future. It is easy to find other instances of irresponsible behavior on the Goram Ghat Bridge such as the video above. The train is seen passing inches from a group of boys who also fall into the gorge below — although presumably from a much smaller height.
Sadly, people risk their lives all the time in pursuit of a selfie or great content for their social media. Just last month, PetaPixel reported on a woman in Mexico who died after being hit by a train that she was trying to position herself next to for a picture.
