Logitech has announced the MX Ink, a stylus compatible with Meta Quest headsets. The stylus can be used on 2D or 3D projects and add virtual layers or changes to real-world objects. Like other tech stylus tools, the MX Ink can be used to write, draw, or sculpt, and has different types of brush textures.MX Ink will be able to connect to Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest 3 headsets via the Meta Quest app. Users will need Meta Quest OS V69 or newer installed in order to use the stylus, and only one MX Ink can be paired with one headset at a time. Users will be able to swap between the stylus and the Meta Quest controllers, however, and the controllers and the stylus can be connected simultaneously. The stylus promises up to seven hours of battery life and has a USB-C charging port as well as two replaceable tip types, according to its product page. It has four different buttons as well as an LED light to show its battery level. The stylus also offers some haptic feedback, UploadVR first reported. The MX Ink has “the familiarity of a 2D stylus with the tracking accuracy expected by Meta Quest users in MR,” said Logitech’s Head of VR and AR, Vadim Kogan, in a statement, adding: “Meta has been incredible to work with, and their MR expertise combined with our user experience and comfort knowledge helps us bridge the gap between traditional tools and the immersive digital world.”The MX Ink will be compatible with a number of different apps on launch, including Gesture VR, Elucis, Painting VR, Gravity Sketch, Engage, and Arkio, to name a few. The stylus can also be used with Unity apps. Logitech plans to ship test styluses to developers next month, so more compatible apps could be added in the future.
