New medium format gear isn’t the only thing Fujifilm’s announcing today. As well as the GFX100S II (buy here) and 500mm f/5.6 (buy here), we’ve also got the new Fujifilm X-T50 and a XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 lens.
The X-T50 is a nice upgrade over the X-T30 II (buy here), offering a feature set similar to the extremely popular Fujifilm X100VI (buy here) but with an interchangeable lens. It shares the same 40.2MP X-Trans sensor, and many of its features.
Fujifilm X-T50 – A little powerhouse of a camera
While the general form factor of the Fujifilm X-T50 is pretty similar to the X-T30 II, it’s a whole different situation on the inside. The 26.1-megapixel sensor has been upgraded to the 40.2-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor, just like the X100VI.
Unlike the X100VI, however, the X-T50 sports the Fuji X interchangeable lens mount. As well as access to the entire lineup of Fuji and third-party X mount lenses, it also features built-in 1.4x and 2x digital teleconverters.
When it comes to video, it’s no slouch, offering 4K at up to 60fps and 6K at up to 30fps with 10-bit 4:2:2 capabilities. It also offers up to 7 stops of in-body image stabilisation and a dedicated film simulation dial for quickly swapping between looks.

FUJIFILM XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR
As well as the new camera, we’ve also got a new lens. It’s the Fujifilm XF 16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 R LM WR, which offers a field of view similar to 24-75mm on a full-frame body. The lens is weather resistant, for use in all weathers.
Its internal zoom mechanism ensures it stays the same length at all focal lengths with a 24cm minimum focus distance. It’s also tiny, measuring only 71.4mm long and weighing 240g. Ideal for a walkabout or street photography lens.
