[ad_1]

As you may already know, the NAB show is full of surprises. Besides showcasing several new products (like additions to PavoSlim series, or Alien LED panels), NANLITE also revealed their new sub-brand called GUTEK. The company offers protective gear cases in three different sizes. My colleague Nino visited NANLITE’s booth to take a first look at the GUTEK Tortoise series and talk about their specifications. As Andy Lin from GUTEK explains, originally, they started research on building hard cases to offer NANLITE’s customers better protection for their lights. However, along the way, manufacturers came up with an independent line of products that can withstand decent competition in the market. What’s so special about the new Tortoise cases? Let’s find out.GUTEK Tortoise: robust but lightweight protectionAs with every good hard case, GUTEK Tortoise is durable against falls and accidental hits, keeping your expensive camera or lighting gear intact. At the same time, the series has an IP67 rating, which means they are also dust and water-resistant. According to Andy, company developers put a lot of thought into the materials and different layers of finish, not only for the sake of design but also to optimize the cage’s weight. For instance, the T-230 model is only 2.77 kilos (around 6 pounds) when empty, and that’s not much compared to other rugged cases.Image source: CineDEach case has “press-pull” latches designed so users can’t hurt themselves. For additional security, there are stainless steel lock holes for padlocks.Image source: CineDSizes and colorsGUTEK Tortoise cases come in three sizes: T-300, T-230, and T-MCC-1. The first two are for standard use (storing cameras, lights, or other valuable “normal-sized” gear). Both fit as carry-ons for most airlines (but please check beforehand). The latter option is a small transparent rugged case for memory cards (also waterproof).T-MCC-1.
