Among the key announcements are two new chipsets: the Kompanio 838 SoC for premium Chromebooks and the Pentonic 800 SoC for 4K smart TVs and displays. These chipsets bring powerful performance and support the latest AI enhancements across various applications.
Kompanio 838: Elevating Chromebook Performance
The octa-core Kompanio 838 is designed to deliver exceptional performance and multitasking capabilities while maintaining energy efficiency for all-day battery life. This new SoC supports DDR4 and LPDDR4X memory, doubling the memory bandwidth of previous generations to enhance data throughput.
Equipped with the MediaTek NPU 650, the Kompanio 838 enhances AI-powered interactive features and multimedia quality. The integrated MediaTek Imagiq 7 series ISP ensures professional-grade HDR imaging, dual camera support, and superior low-light performance.
The Kompanio 838 also features hardware-accelerated AV1 video decoding for seamless 4K content streaming and supports up to two 4K displays simultaneously. With MediaTek Filogic Wi-Fi 6 and 6E technology, users can enjoy high-speed, reliable connectivity with improved security.
Pentonic 800: Next-Level Smart TV Experience
The Pentonic 800 SoC is designed to deliver top-notch video, audio, and cloud gaming experiences on 4K displays, including smart TVs, monitors, and commercial displays. This chipset offers a 50% boost in AI processing performance and reduces bandwidth usage by up to 60%.
The Pentonic 800’s powerful NPU supports a range of MediaTek AI-powered display technologies, significantly enhancing picture quality and upscaling. It also supports variable refresh rate (VRR) up to 4K2K 165Hz, ensuring smooth gaming performance.
For high-quality 4K video playback, the Pentonic 800 supports key codecs such as HEVC, AV1, and VVC (H.266), along with MEMC and high-resolution audio. It offers OEMs the flexibility to integrate MediaTek’s Filogic Wi-Fi connectivity solutions, ensuring high-speed, low-latency connections.
Keynote by Dr. Rick Tsai
Dr. Rick Tsai will deliver his keynote on Tuesday, June 4, at 13:30 Taiwan time at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2. He will discuss the transformative role of AI in mobility, transportation, smart homes, enterprises, and industrial environments.
