Microsoft Is Injecting Bing Ads Into Google Chrome…Again

[ad_1]

Windows users might start seeing advertisements unexpectedly pop up while they’re using Google Chrome — again.Last year, Microsoft started showing users ads for Edge whenever they visited the Google Chrome download page. The ads, which included a full-width banner, said “Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome, with the added trust of Microsoft.” Ads also appeared on Windows machines for Microsoft’s Bing browser. After several user complaints, Microsoft said the ads being shown were “unintended behavior” and it pulled them; however, now it looks like they’re back.According to The Verge, Windows users are reporting seeing a new pop-up advertising Bing AI and the Bing search engine inside Google Chrome. Clicking on the ad will change your default browser on your device from Google Chrome to Bing. While the ads have a malware-like appearance, they’re from Microsoft and should only appear once for users. The pop-ups are appearing for individuals who have downloaded a recent behind-the-scenes update in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
