Lenovo’s smartphone brand Motorola has added a new member to its affordable ‘G’ Series lineup in India. Motorola G24 Power is the new entry-level offering by Motorola that claims to offer good quality specs at a price that easily fits the budget. The Moto G24 Power falls in the category of smartphones under 10k and offers specs like Helio chipset, 50MP camera, 6000mAh battery, and more. The company has updated its Power Series after three years with Moto G10 Power being launched in 2021. With the entry-level market getting more and more competitive in the country, will this Motorola offering be able to make its mark? MOTO G24 POWER Review: Design and Build
Entry-level smartphones mostly feature a simplistic and basic design and Moto G24 Power has followed the same trend. It has a matte finish at the back and on the sides and comes in 2 shades of blue- Ink Blue and Glacier Blue. I received the Ink Blue model for review and this darker shade of blue looks decent in appearance.
The design is not particularly fancy or stylish but the minimalistic looks will appeal to the consumer. The matte finish of the back panel doesn’t catch smudges easily which is good and the in-hand feel is also decent. The device is just 8.99mm thick and weighs 197 grams, even though it packs a massive 6000mAh battery.
The back panel has a slightly protruded rectangular camera module that has 2 camera sensors and an LED flashlight. In the middle is the Motorola logo. At the front, there is an LCD and a hole punch cutout for a selfie sensor. Talking about functionality, the right edge includes volume rockers and a power button while the left edge has a SIM+ microSD card tray. The bottom edge houses a USB-Type C port and a speaker grille while the top edge has a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you look closely, you will also see Dolby Atmos branding on the top edge, which is a rarity for entry-level smartphones.
Moreover, the device is IP52 rated for being resistant to dust, light rain, and splashes. An IP rating on a device under 10k is a big move from the brand.
MOTO G24 POWER Review: Display
Indoor
Moto G24 Power sports a 6.56-inch HD+ LCD. It is a decent-sized display that comes with a pixel resolution of 1600×720 and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The HD screen offers good visuals when you are consuming content or gaming. The visuals are crisp and vibrant, and have an average amount of detailing. Viewing angles and dynamic range are just about average. The bezels on the chin are thicker than the other three sides but then that is expected in this price range. The refresh rate feels smooth when it is maxed out at 90Hz however during tasks like video streaming and loading apps, it drops to 60Hz and there were times when lags could be felt as well.
Outdoor
The display supports 537 nits maximum brightness, which works indoors but outdoors under direct sunlight, the screen is hardly visible. It is very difficult to use the device even when the brightness is set to maximum. HDR support isn’t available though you can choose color options from Natural and Saturated.

The device comes with a peek display option that can be enabled to see quick information and notifications when the display is off. This works as one can’t expect AOD in an under 10,000 INR smartphone.
Motorola could have worked slightly harder on improving the peak brightness and the overall quality of the display.

MOTO G24 POWER Review: Performance
The Moto G24 Power is powered by MediaTek Helios G85 SoC combined with Arm Mali0-G52 MC2 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 128GB storage. The RAM ensures a lag-free and fast experience while 128GB storage offers ample space to store whatever you want in your gallery. The storage can be increased up to 1TB using a microSD card.
The device works fine as a daily driver with tasks like calling, streaming and social media browsing being smooth and lag-free. However, there were times when the device stuttered while switching between apps, or using the camera app for a long time. Benchmark results are given below.
The Moto G24 Power is not high on gaming. Causal light games like Candy Crush Saga, Temple Run, Ludo King, and Township ran seamlessly. However heavy titles like BGMI start slowing down and the device starts hanging up within a few minutes. The temperature of the phone also starts rising when gaming is done for longer durations. Dolby Atmos speakers offer a decent audio experience.
In terms of software, Moto G24 Power runs MY UX based on Android 14 out of the box. The best part is that like other Moto devices, this one too offers a clean UI experience. It has only a few pre-loaded apps which can be easily uninstalled. This is one thing that differentiates it from the competitors in the segment. Moreover, there are features like quick capture gestures, wallpapers, widgets, themes, parental control options, and more. The company also offers three years of security updates.

MOTO G24 POWER Review: Cameras
Cameras are not the strongest point of budget and mid-range smartphones by Motorola. The same can be said about Moto G24 Power. It has a dual camera setup at the back including a 50MP main and a 2MP macro sensor. At the front is a 16MP selfie snapper.
Talking about the main camera, the 50MP sensor clicks shots with good colors and decent details in daylight. The details are diluted in some shots and the colors look boosted, but in totality, the shot will look fine to a casual user. The only issue is that the essence of the image gets lost at times, like for example in the shot of the bird below, its body and texture are not precisely clear. Shots of scenery are ok but those that have detailing seem inadequate at times.

Clicking photos in HDR mode does improve sharpness and detailing a little, but there’s not too much of a difference.

The 2MP macro camera doesn’t have autofocus. The details are very less in these photos though they are close-up shots. The colors look saturated and there is a slight blur around the edges when you zoom in. It is better to use the main sensor to click close-ups or portrait shots.
Macro Shots
The 16MP selfie sensor offers decent selfies in daylight when the lighting is good. The face looks natural and the skin tone is close to real when filters are turned off. These images can be considered social media worthy based on the preferences of the user. The subject is focused upon however, detailing is limited.
Motorola could have made the main and front sensors better instead of stuffing the 2MP macro camera, which is almost useless.
MOTO G24 POWER Review: Battery Life and Charging
Battery is one of the USPs of Moto G24 Power. The device packs a massive 6000mAh battery under the hood that proves to be a good solution for those who need long usage without continuous need for charging. Once completely charged, the battery easily lasts for a day and a half with moderate usage. Moderate usage includes calling, texting, listening to music, content consumption, browsing social media, and playing light games. Even if you are a heavy user, the battery lasts for an entire working day with the need to charge at night.
Motorola has bundled a 33W power adapter inside the box. It can charge the smartphone from 0 to 100% in around 110 minutes. It takes about an hour to charge from 0 to 50%. Charging time might feel long but then you can’t expect super-fast charging capability on an entry-level device.
Review Verdict: Should you buy the Moto G24 Power?
The Moto G24 Power is a compelling budget option, the price for which starts at Rs. 8249 for the 4GB RAM model. The smartphone comes with a 6000mAh battery, a Clean UI experience, a sleek and minimalistic design, an IP52 rating, and 33W charging capability. So, if you are someone who prioritizes battery life, build, design, and a clean UI experience, then Moto G24 can be your choice. However, if your focus is on camera, display, or gaming then Moto G34, Realme 12, Samsung Galaxy M14, or Realme Narzo N53 will be better options.
