NANLITE has just introduced two new bi-color LED lights: the FC-60B and FC-120B. With respective power of 78W and 145W, the FC-60B and FC-120B COB lights can go from 2700°K to 6500°K. Both lights have a reasonably small form factor with no external ballast, and you can power them via a wide variety of ways, including a power adapter, V-Mount battery, NP-F battery for the FC-60B, or more surprisingly, via a USB-C PD power bank or charger. So, let’s take a closer look at these versatile fixtures for shooters on the go!During NAB 2024, NANLITE released a couple of new LED lights, but mainly as LED panels, including the PavoSlim 60CL, 240B, and 240C and the bigger Alien 150C and 300C. However, while LED panels are nice and convenient, they’re not for everybody, and it has been quite a long time since NANLITE announced any new COB light. Image credit: NANLITENANLITE FC-60B and FC-120B – featuresThe NANLITE FC-60B and FC-120B are two compact bi-color LED lights with respective power outputs of 78W and 145W. The FC-60B weighs 700g/1.57 lbs, and the FC-120B is 980g/2.16 lbs. These lights are the little brothers of the FC-300B/500B that were announced in September 2023 and share a lot of the same features and design: A CCT range that goes from 2700 to 6500°KColor accuracy: a high CRI of 96 and a TLCI of 98 with a TM-30Rf reading of 95 and TM-30 Rg of 101.Back of the FC-60B. Image credit: NANLITEAll of the controls are at the back of the units, with two knobs and two buttons.The FC-60B has a 1.47″ display, while the FC-120B has a larger 1.9″ screen.You can control the lights via an optional remote controller, the Nanlink App, or DMX/RDM protocols.Twelve built-in special effects, including the famous CCT Loop, Flash, Pulse, Storm, TV, Paparazzi, etc.The FC-60B and FC-120B have a built-in fan with four modes: Smart, Full Speed, Low Speed, and Off.As you can see, these lights have much in common with their siblings, which is nice. However, their light modifier mount is the most significant difference between the NANLITE FC-60B/120B and the FC-300B/500B.The included AS-BA-FMM Bowens Mount adapter. Image credit: NANLITEIndeed, while the FC-300B/500B uses a “traditional” Bowens Mount, the FC-60B/FC-120B uses NANLITE’s FM accessory mount. To me, that’s a little bit inconvenient because if you commit to a lineup of fixtures, you intend to carry one type/kind of lighting modifier and not bring multiple lighting modifiers incompatible with each other. Image credit: NANLITEPowering optionsThe most significant selling point of the FC-60B and FC-120B are probably their powering options. Indeed, you have multiple ways to power them. First, you can power them via mains with the included power adapter. Then, for the FC-60B only, you can use two Sony NP-F batteries with the included battery adapter.The NANLITE BH-FZ60-V battery grip. Image credit: NANLITESimilarly to other compact NANLITE fixtures, the FC-60B/120B can be powered via an optional battery grip (codename: BH-FZ60-V) that takes a 14.4/26V V-Mount battery. According to the company, they’ll also soon release a power bank grip.Last but not least, you can also power the FC-60B/120B via their USB-C PD port, which means you can use a power bank or USB-C charger to power the lights. Both fixtures are available now and ship with an FM-Mount reflector, FM-Mount to Bowens-Mount adapter, and a power supply.
