Back in 2022, the London-based tech startup Nothing set foot into the consumer tech industry with its first product, the Nothing Ear (1) (review). With its semi-transparent design and value-for-money proposition, the Ear (1) took over the market in no time. In the same year, Nothing launched its first smartphone, the Phone (1) (review). The following year saw the launch of Ear (2) (review) and Phone (2) (review), the rightful successors of the company’s first two products. Expanding its portfolio, the Carl Pei-led company released a mid-range phone in 2024, the Phone (2a) (review). Now, the company has announced the release of two new audio products in April.

Don’t Expect A Nothing Ear (3) This Year
Since Nothing confirms that it has reset the naming strategy for its earphones, it looks like the Ear will succeed the Ear (2) launched last year. This has been done to “center the focus around the product and the unique experience it delivers for each user.” Hence, there won’t be a Nothing Ear (3) after all. “2024 is the year we’re unveiling the ultimate iteration of Nothing Audio with two new products that reflect the culmination of three years of design and innovation,” writes Nothing in its social media post.
Nothing Ear And Ear (a) Specifications And Expected Price
Revealing some specifications of the Nothing Ear and the Ear (a) to Wired, Nothing says that the former will feature a new ceramic driver that delivers crispier sound and better bass. The latter will feature better noise cancellation, around 45db, which is 5db more than the cancellation provided by the Nothing Ear (2). To guess the products’ pricing, Nothing could place the Ear as a premium product, priced at around Rs. 10,000. On the other hand, the Ear (a), following a similar strategy as the Phone (2a), could be priced at around Rs. 5,000.
