There are times when I appreciate some kind of shapewear under thinner dresses, or dresses that area bit more fitted. And there are other times when I just want a layer underneath a dress for comfort! I’ve tried some that are great and some that are terrible, but I recently tried 5 shorts to see which one I liked the most for summer! See my results below.
Thigh Society The Staple – if you are looking for a layering short that is *NOT* shapewear aka will not smooth/press/support in a way that feels like shapewear does, this is what you want. It feels like a thicker version of wearing nylons, is super breathable, and stays put. The legs rode up a little bit on me but that is not a deal breaker for me.
Thigh Society The Cooling – the lightest weight option for a layering short is this one. It’s not going to provide shaping or support, it’s simply a lightweight, thin layer to wear underneath your outfit! This is one of my favorites for sure, especially when the temps rise here in the summer.
Skims Soft Smoothing Seamless Shorts – I had a bit of trouble with this pair rolling down on me, but I think that is due to the thicker material made for smoothing. I liked this short but between this and the Spanx version (which is the most similar), I think I prefer the Spanx option!
Commando Zone Smoothing High Waist Shorts – this felt the most supportive/shaping. I liked the waist support and how soft the material felt! My only note was that when I walked I would hear it when I would take steps.
Spanx Shorty Seamless Shaper Shorts – I liked how low-profile these were. I did notice the legs ride up occasionally but that is sort of inevitable with shorts like these. Overall, these are a great staple for a smoothing short!
