Smartwatch and Fitness Tracker Deals

Made a resolution to get in shape this year? Why not use some tech to keep you accountable, like a fitness tracker (or smartwatch with fitness-tracking capabilities). Fitness trackers can make the task of counting calories, steps, and the like effortless and even suggest additional activities to maximize your gains.Even if you aren’t a professional athlete, a good fitness tracker will quickly become part of your daily routine by giving you helpful reminders to stand and stretch during your work-from-home shift. A good tracker will also offer some basic water-resistance, the ability to integrate with apps like Strava and Nike Run Club, and ideally enough storage to hold a few motivating workout playlists.Other considerations include battery life, whether you need cellular connectivity, GPS and crash/collision detection for safety, and whether it supports mobile payments. Here’s what we’ve got for the best fitness-oriented smartwatch deals on the market at the beginning of 2024.

Apple Watch Ultra 2While the baseline Apple Watch is probably more suited for the nightclub or the boardroom, the Ultra 2 is a rugged and fitness-forward wearable with tons of cool features. In our review, we praised the new, brighter screen and on-board Siri, and a faster processor that lets it handle apps more smoothly. Battery life is stellar, and it includes cool upgrades like a Depth app for underwater exploration, topographic mapping, and more. Price drops are rare, so $40 off is a big deal.

Garmin Forerunner 245Although the Forerunner 245 has been on the market for a while, it’s still a reliable smartwatch geared toward an active lifestyle, with a wide selection of adaptive training plans through the Garmin Coach app and an advanced set of running dynamics to help you improve your stride, endurance, and efficiency. In our review, we said that it was “a strong option for runners who want to take their abilities to the next level,” and this is a tremendous price for one.

Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire SolarFor something a little beefier, the Garmin Fenix 7 Pro is a high-end fitness tracker and adventure smartwatch that will handle anything you throw at it and doesn’t even need to be plugged in to do its job, courtesy of a remarkably efficient solar panel. A high-resolution color touch screen distinguishes it from other Garmin models, and activating the myriad widgets that let you monitor health stats is simple. It’s a higher-priced watch, but saving $200 makes it that much easier to take one home.

Fitbit Sense 2We gave the Sense 2 an Excellent rating in our review, saying that it “features a thinner and lighter design, a more responsive touch screen, and better battery life than the original Sense.” The new Body Response sensor monitors your electrodermal activity throughout the day to give you insight into how you respond to stress, and the heart rate and activity monitors are robust and integrate with over 40 exercise modes.

Fitbit LuxeWith a name like “Luxe” you’d expect a price tag to match. “Luxe” refers to the fact that this Fitbit is designed to be a bit sleeker and more like a piece of jewelry as opposed to a large thick piece of plastic. The slim design and stainless steel case offer a level of sophistication over other models, as do the optional bracelet-style wristbands. Don’t judge a book by its cover: This device also includes the features you’d expect, including activity and stress tracking plus sleep monitoring. The smaller size does mean that battery life is a touch shorter than other Fitbits; five days on a full single charge versus seven to 10 days on other models, but that’s not too bad.
