Snif Coco Shimmy is a new coconut and pineapple Summer fragrance that launched a few weeks ago just in time for the warm weather. I’m a gourmand girlie but I can get on board with tropical scents from time to time. What I don’t always love is beachy fragrances! Those aren’t my thing. I think Snif takes Coco Shimmy into the realms of tropical and a bit gourmand with this new scent. It’s also, not a too sweet or cloying blend of coconut and pineapple that comes across as very soft yet has that fun in-the-sun vibe as well. Snif was kind enough to send me a sample to try out
You can try it for free too! If you head over to snif.com they’ll send you a $65 bottle along with a 2ML sample. You can’t spray the bottle when you get it but you can test the 2ML sample. If you love it you can go ahead and keep that larger bottle and your credit card will be charged after the 7th day of your testing your little sample out. If you hate it, just return the unused large bottle. Snif sends you a prepaid label to ship it back. It’s an easy, no-nonsense way to try this out without committing. This is a very accurate by-the-pool or sitting-on-the-beach fragrance but without being overwhelming. I’m sort of amazed at how well-blended this is. I wasn’t sure I was going to like it I was concerned it would be too beachy but it isn’t at all. The initial spray has this soft, delicate, and creamy coconut and just a little back note of sweet pineapple! As it settles on your skin the pineapple that was so shyly in the background comes further to the front of the fragrance and envelopes the coconut creating a warm sweet element. And no, it isn’t this sweet pina colada scent. I thought at first that was what would happen as it dried down but it really doesn’t take that direction at all. The top notes of coconut and pineapple are pretty dominant but the middle notes peek their head out in the form of the lightest touch of your favorite suntan lotion mixed with surf wax! Yes, surf wax. Sounds off? I thought so too but you can quite literally smell a waxy element in the mix. If you’ve hung out at enough California beaches in your time I’m sure you’ve smelled all sorts of waxes with a range from generic fresh, fruity scents like coconut, pineapple, and of course, vanilla or ones that have sandalwood and beeswax in the background. My boyfriend surfs and I oddly find the scent of a wax that smells like coconut, pineapple, vanilla, and beeswax rather comforting. Snif managed to somehow bottle that note up in this fragrance and I’m somewhat shocked and delighted they could capture the essence of surfboard wax. Bravo!
As this scent settles on your skin the pineapple diminishes somewhat and whereas before it was rather aggressive it now submits to the creamy coconut which blends with the warm of tonka bean and sandalwood to create this warm, sunny cocoon. This is not a tropical dessert nor a tropical drink one but it is a day at the beach a trickle of your pina colada dribbling on your leg where you just applied your favorite suntan lotion which is hit by the warmth of the sun. It’s not too rich, not too sweet, just a perfect balance of notes that create the warmth of your favorite day at the beach.
The wear time is nice on this. It wears close to the skin and doesn’t project harshly. It creates a nice cocoon of fragrance around the user and lasts for about 6 hours on my skin. I pair it up with my favorite Soap and Glory Magnifi-Coco Moisturizing Body Lotion!
