Sonos finally enters the headphones market with premium $449 Ace headphones

Sonos finally made some headphones. A premium speaker maker brand Sonos has finally entered the headphone market with the launch of its first Sonos Ace headphones. Sonos has high standards when it comes to sound. Its Sonos speaker lineup truly represents Sonos’ audio prowess, so we would expect the same kind of experience from its first headphones.

In the saturated headphones market, premium headphone brands like Sony, Bose, Sennheiser, and Apple dominate the entire headphone market with their premium offerings. Now, with Sonos’ latest headphones, consumers have a new premium option to consider which offers similar sound quality and feature set to high-end headphones. Sonos Ace headphones start at $449 and will be available for purchase starting June 5 via Sonos’ official website and other authorized retailers.

“They’re here! Fans have asked us for years to bring the Sonos experience to headphones — and we knew our first foray into the category needed to champion the type of innovation and sound experience Sonos has become synonymous with,” said Sonos CEO Patrick Spence.

Sonos Ace headphones every element has been obsessively crafted with premium materials to look like flagship headphones. The simple and minimalist stainless steel design offers a great on-head fit, allowing for precise adjustment to equalize pressure and create an exceptional acoustic seal. The impressive thing is that the headphones don’t have any fancy details which gives it a more attractive look.

The plush memory foam and soft vegan leather-wrapped earcups ensure maximum comfort for day-long wear. The headband doesn’t exert excessive pressure thanks to the foam cushioned. It comes in Matte Black and Soft White color options.

Sonos incorporated the physical buttons on the Ace; the left earcup has a power on/off and pair button while the right earcup features a volume rocker, ANC, answer/decline calls, and play/pause button. Sonos claims up to 30 hours of battery life with ANC enabled on a single charge, which is impressive. This is a great improvement over Bose and Apple’s premium headphones, which are rated at 26 and 20 hours on a single charge, respectively. The 1060mAh battery takes up to two hours to fully recharge. It also has rapid charging support; with a three-minute charge can offer roughly three hours of playback time.

Sonos Ace boasts two custom-designed 40mm dynamic sound drivers and eight beamforming microphones for calls and noise detection. The meticulously engineered and tuned Sonos Ace produces the highest fidelity sound while balancing crystal clear highs, powerful lows, and superior bass. The dynamic driver combined with advanced software produces each frequency with impeccable precision and accuracy.

Sonos packed world-class ANC in the Ace headphones which use an array of optimally positioned microphones to finely pinpoint and filter out external sounds for maximum immersion. The aware mode keeps you connected with your surroundings while enjoying your favorite tracks.

Sonos Ace headphones are a solid competitor to the likes of the premium Apple AirPods Max ($449), Bose QC Ultra ($349), and Sennheiser Momentum 4 wireless headphones. No doubt, Sonos has a well-established name in the audio industry but still it won’t be easy for Sonos to dominate against these audio tech giants, particularly at this price point.
