Google is reportedly working on a way for you to find your Pixel device even when it’s been powered off.According to Android Police, Google is prepping the feature to launch with the Pixel 9; however, it might ultimately be available for older devices as well. The site notes that Google’s Find My Device feature currently works by having the device broadcast Bluetooth beacons which are then picked up by other Android devices that are within range of the broadcasting device.Google is reportedly working on a way for a device to store precomputed Bluetooth beacons in its memory that would continue broadcasting even when the device is powered off.Given the device requires hardware support, it can’t just be enabled on every device which is why it’s not expected to work until the release of the Pixel 9; however, Android Police notes that it looks like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro could potentially support the feature as well.
