Yesterday, Tesla cut the price of the Model X, S, and Y and announced it was ditching its referral program, and today it announced another price cut, this time for the company’s full self-driving software. In a post on X, Tesla announced its full self-driving software (FSD) is now $8,000 in the United States or $11,000 for folks in Canada, down from $12,000 in the US and $16,000 in Canada. Customers in both the US and Canada can also subscribe to the feature for $99 a month.

According to Electrek, Tesla has also discontinued its $6,000 Enhanced Autopilot option but is allowing current Tesla owners with that package to upgrade to FSD for $2,000. Tesla’s FSD capability was sold for $15,000 from late 2022 until late last year when Tesla dropped its price to $12,000.The feature is a step beyond the company’s Autopilot feature and allows the vehicle to steer itself on city streets and respond to things like traffic lights and stop signs. The feature also offers lane change assistance, automatic turn signals and highway exit assistance, automatic parking, and the ability to maneuver out of more cramped parking spaces.Late last year, Tesla recalled many of its vehicles because Autopilot displayed inadequate safety alerts. The software update to fix the issue added more prominent alerts to the vehicle, which encouraged drivers to pay closer attention to the road while the feature was engaged. On Friday, Tesla also announced a recall for its new Cybertruck over concerns regarding the vehicle’s accelerator pedal. The pedal cover can reportedly slide off and get wedged under its interior trim, making it difficult to stop or control the vehicle.

All the price drops comes after a tough quarter for Tesla. The company produced 433,371 vehicles and delivered 386,810 globally in Q1, representing an an 8.5% drop from Q1 2023. This quarter was the first time the EV maker reported a year-over-year decline in quarterly deliveries since 2020.Customers who purchase a new Tesla are given a 30-day trial of the vehicle’s Full Self Driving Capability.
