Hello, beautiful creatures! Today I’m sharing my Wicked Widow Beauty Lovesick Palette look with you, along with what I did for Valentine’s Day. This is the first full makeup look I’ve done for 2024 and since my blepharoplasty on Dec. 20, 2023.
Please note, for my entire life prior to Dec. 2023, I had hooded eyes. My new eye shape is deepset (at least I’m 99.5% sure), so I get to learn all about color placement for deep set eyes!
Everything purchased by me. All opinions my own.

KVD Full Sleeve Long + Defined Tubing Mascara
Let’s talk a little bit about the KVD Full Sleeve Long + Defined Tubing Mascara. I bought a mini of this mascara and it was great, so I later bought a full size and have used it a few times. When I tried to use it for this look it was terrible; I tossed it in the trash. Normally I don’t buy into the hype that minis are better than full sizes, but something definitely was off when I used this mascara. It was weirdly wet, clumpy, and no amount of using a spoolie improved them.
This is just one way that KVD has made me sad lately. I’m also very sad over KVD not being transparent with the shelf life of their eye products. I’m still disappointed that the dazzle gels have a 6 month shelf life for the price they’re charging.
Finally, I’m sad because they discontinued the KVD Everlasting Blush in Rosebud. I LOVE this refillable packaging, so I stupidly thought KVD would keep these around. Rosebud is the perfect everyday soft shade on me and when I went to repurchase, I noticed it was gone. I reached out to KVD’s support and their response was deeply disappointing. I told them I was cool toned and they still recommended a warm pink shade. It’s clear that the people they have working in customer service are not into makeup.
Elf Makeup Products
I want to explicitly state that I do love e.l.f. makeup products! Not every product from them is a winner for me, but they have many great ones. Right now I’m in love with their Power Grip primer, which is an affordable dupe for the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip primer for me. I’ve been extremely disheartened seeing other content creators bash elf for creating affordable dupes of products and for those of us who choose to shop them.
I’m also using some e.l.f. skin care and loving it! I’m on my fourth bottle of the Holy Hydration! e.l.f. Off Makeup Remover. The eco friendly, sustainable way that I’ve been removing my makeup is that I will first drench a makeup eraser cloth in hot water, then squeeze it out, put the elf makeup remover on it, hold it against my eye for 20-30 seconds, and then gently wipe down. I repeat as necessary until all my eye makeup is gone.
E.l.f.’s Holy Hydration! e.l.f. Off Makeup Remover replaced the Paula’s Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover that I used in the past. Don’t be afraid to give e.l.f. products a try!
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes is a Secret Weapon
The Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes is a secret weapon of choice with many makeup artists! It’s great for setting under your eyes, of course, but it can also set your mascara. The other way I love to use it is to blend out the edges of eyeshadow to help a look stay bright but cohesive.
Wicked Widow Beauty Lovesick Palette Thoughts
So far I’m loving the Wicked Widow Beauty Lovesick Palette! The mattes are buildable and blend out with ease. The shimmer shades have excellent pigmentation. My Valentine’s Day look lasted for 10 hours before I took it off. It looked great from start to finish! These cool-toned pinks look great on my fair cool skin.
Urban Decay Vice Lip Bond Glossy Longwear Liquid Lipsticks
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Urban Decay Vice Lip Bond Glossy Longwear Liquid Lipsticks are my new favorite glossy longwear liquid lipstick formula! See my review and swatches here. Shock Value is the perfect pink to go with my Wicked Widow Beauty Lovesick palette look.
I gifted these liquid lipsticks, along with Silk Naturals Super Fruit Lip Masks, to several friends this year. These lipsticks are my favorite product from Urban Decay right now, followed by Stay Naked Hydromaniac Tined Moisturizer, All Nighter Setting Spray, and 24/7 eyeliners.
I’m still holding out hope that someday Urban Decay will make the perfect blurring stick foundation for my dry skin. And I’d love to see some bolder, wilder colors inthe glossy lipsticks line.
Sensitive Eyes
The last time I remember my eyes being so sensitive was after my PRK vision correction surgery. I could not use my P. Louise Shade 1 eyeshadow primer base because it was too thick and it hurt too much trying to spread it around. So I had to gently remove all that, then start over with the soothing Karla Cosmetics Shadow Primer.
What I Wore for Valentine’s Day
I put on a dress for the first time since my January 30 breast reconstruction surgery. I chose to wear my favorite little black dress from Marste fashion. I’m sad Marste fashion is no longer around because they were a sustainably made in the USA fashion brand and they stated they paid their employees fair wages, which is often not the case in fashion. This little black dress goes with everything, especially a bold look like the one I created with the Wicked Widow Beauty Lovesick palette.
And yes, Amaya is such a sweetheart! She is always watching me for what I’m doing next. Her leash manners are amazing these days. If she didn’t have hip dysplasia I would sign up for trick classes with her. Her focus on me is unmatched.
What We Made for Valentine’s Day

You can see Ami’s cute dog Kita in the background.
We took Lily’s chips and melted them down to dip strawberries for chocolate covered strawberries. We used food coloring mixed with pureed beets to color the white chocolate pink. I popped them into the freezer while we ate dinner to get the chocolate to harden. The bold pink strawberry matches my Wicked Widow Beauty Lovesick palette look nicely!
Dave and Ami collaborated to create these strawberries and cream drinks. They muddled strawberries, used coconut cream, included strawberry rose vodka, and licor 43. I rarely drink (because it causes inflammation), but I had one glass of this. It was tasty.
Ami shared her favorite scallop recipe, which is what she and I made together. It’s scallops with gluten free pasta, cherry tomatoes, and baby spinach. We used lots of garlic, lemon, coconut cream, some white wine and butter for the sauce. I love scallops and baby spinach! While I enjoyed the cherry tomatoes, my body did not, I will have to skip them next time.
Dave and I loved spending Valentine’s Day with Ami. I loved spending Valentine’s Day cooking at home with great company. How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
