Microsoft is warning customers about a vulnerability that could give hackers access to your device when you’re connected to a public Wi-Fi network somewhere like a coffee shop or airport.Microsoft says that the vulnerability, CVE-2024-30078, gives hackers the ability to deploy a malicious packet to devices running Windows 10 and 11 that are connected to the same WiFi network. Once that packet has been deployed, the hackers could potentially run commands and gain access to your system without your knowledge. The company rolled out a security update on June 11th that corrects the issue; however, in order for you to take advantage of it you’ll need to download the update. The Verge notes that Microsoft has labeled the vulnerability as “important” which is the second-highest rating the company has for security vulnerabilities.
